The steps of anaerobic respiration are: 1. Glycolysis: Glucose is broken down into pyruvate, producing a small amount of ATP and NADH. 2. Fermentation: Pyruvate is converted into either lactic acid or ethanol and carbon dioxide, depending on the organism. The fermentation process regenerates NAD⁺, which is necessary for glycolysis to continue.
