Answer

During G1 phase (Gap 1), the cell grows, produces proteins, and synthesizes RNA. It also performs its normal functions. During S phase (Synthesis), DNA replication occurs, resulting in two sister chromatids for each chromosome. During G2 phase (Gap 2), the cell continues to grow, synthesizes proteins necessary for mitosis, and prepares for cell division by checking for DNA damage and ensuring all replication is complete.
