How to read pipette?

To read a pipette, you first need to understand its graduations. Graduated pipettes typically have multiple markings that allow for varying volumes to be measured. When liquid is inside the pipette, the most accurate reading is taken by observing the meniscus—the curve formed by the liquid’s surface at the edges of the pipette. Always align your line of sight with the bottom of the meniscus and the corresponding graduation mark on the pipette. This eliminates parallax errors. The pipette should also be held upright to ensure that liquid measurement is accurate. For volumetric pipettes, you simply observe the marked volume at the neck of the pipette, as it is designed to deliver that precise volume when filled to the mark.
