No, peroxisomes do not contain their own DNA or ribosomes. Unlike mitochondria and chloroplasts, which have their own genomes, peroxisomes rely entirely on the import of proteins synthesized in the cytosol. These proteins possess peroxisomal targeting signals (PTS) that enable their recognition and import into the organelle. This lack of DNA means peroxisomes cannot replicate autonomously through growth alone but depend on the division of existing peroxisomes and biogenesis from the endoplasmic reticulum.
