Interphase is the longest phase of the cell cycle, encompassing growth and DNA replication, while the four stages of mitosis (prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase) are much shorter. Typically, the order from most to least time spent is: Interphase > Prophase > Metaphase > Anaphase > Telophase.
