Where does Krebs cycle happen?

The Krebs cycle takes place in the mitochondrial matrix of eukaryotic cells. The matrix is a compartment within the mitochondrion where all the enzymes required for the cycle’s reactions are located. In prokaryotic cells, which lack mitochondria, the cycle occurs in the cytoplasm.
