Rhizosphere bacteria are microorganisms that inhabit the root-influenced soil zone. They include plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), nitrogen fixers, phosphate solubilizers, and biocontrol agents. Common genera are Pseudomonas, Bacillus, Rhizobium, Azospirillum. They play key roles in nutrient cycling, disease resistance, hormone production, and stress tolerance. Their populations are shaped by root exudates and soil conditions.
