What happens when maltose goes under Seliwanoff’s test?

Maltose, being a disaccharide composed of two glucose molecules (an aldose), does not give a positive result in the Seliwanoff test. It would either show no color change or a very faint color, as it is not a ketose. The Seliwanoff test is specific for sugars containing a ketone group (like fructose) and does not react significantly with maltose.
