What gives positive results in Seliwanoff test?

The Seliwanoff test gives positive results for ketose sugars, such as fructose. These sugars react with resorcinol under acidic conditions to produce a characteristic red or pink color. Sucrose, when hydrolyzed, also gives a positive result due to its fructose component. Other ketoses, like ribulose and xylulose, would also give positive results, although they may require further confirmation.
