How much ATP is produced in the Krebs cycle?
Answered
In each complete cycle turn, 1 direct GTP (or ATP) is produced. Indirectly, 3 NADH yield 7.5 ATP and 1 FADH₂ yields 1.5 ATP through the electron transport chain. This results in approximately 10 ATP equivalents per cycle. For each glucose molecule (which produces two acetyl-CoA molecules), total ATP production via the Krebs cycle is around 20 ATP equivalents.
