Pyruvate is primarily produced from the last step of glycolysis, where pyruvate kinase converts phosphoenolpyruvate to pyruvate. Other significant sources include the oxidation of lactate via lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and transamination of alanine via alanine aminotransferase (ALT).
