There are different formulas for anaerobic respiration depending on the type of fermentation. For example, lactic acid fermentation is represented as C₆H₁₂O₆ → 2C₃H₆O₃ + ATP (glucose to lactic acid). Alcoholic fermentation is represented as C₆H₁₂O₆ → 2C₂H₅OH + 2CO₂ + ATP (glucose to ethanol and carbon dioxide).
