How many ATP is produced in Krebs cycle?
Answered
Each complete turn of the Krebs cycle produces 1 direct GTP (or ATP) through substrate-level phosphorylation. Additionally, 3 NADH yield approximately 7.5 ATP and 1 FADH₂ produces about 1.5 ATP via oxidative phosphorylation. This amounts to about 10 ATP equivalents per cycle. Since each glucose molecule generates two acetyl-CoA molecules, the total ATP yield from the Krebs cycle per glucose molecule is approximately 20 ATP equivalents.
