Telomere length can be influenced by certain factors, but it is not easily lengthened in humans outside of experimental conditions. In laboratory settings, telomerase, an enzyme that adds DNA repeats to telomeres, has been shown to lengthen telomeres. However, safely and effectively activating telomerase in humans is still an area of active research. Lifestyle factors, such as regular physical exercise, a balanced diet, and stress management, may help slow down telomere shortening, but they are not proven to significantly lengthen telomeres.
