Chlamydomonas is a genus of unicellular green algae belonging to the class Chlorophyceae. These microscopic organisms are characterized by their motility, facilitated by two anterior flagella. They possess a cup-shaped chloroplast with a single large pyrenoid and are widely distributed in freshwater, seawater, and even snow environments.
