The dorsal root ganglia are part of the peripheral nervous system (PNS). They contain the cell bodies of sensory neurons that transmit information from the periphery (such as skin and muscles) to the spinal cord. Each dorsal root ganglion is associated with a spinal nerve and is located just outside the spinal cord, making it a key component of the PNS
