The Krebs cycle uses NAD⁺ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) as a coenzyme to oxidize various intermediates. In three key steps, NAD⁺ accepts electrons and protons to form NADH. These steps occur during the oxidation of isocitrate, alpha-ketoglutarate, and malate, which ultimately contributes to the electron transport chain for ATP production.
