How to do Seliwanoff test?

The steps for performing the Seliwanoff test are as follows:
– Prepare a clean test tube.
– Add a small amount (a few drops) of the sugar solution to the test tube.
– Add 1-2 drops of concentrated hydrochloric acid (HCl) to the test tube.
– Add 1-2 drops of resorcinol solution to the test tube.
– Mix the contents of the test tube gently.
– Heat the test tube in a boiling water bath for 1-2 minutes.
– Observe the color change.
– A positive result (indicating the presence of a ketose, like fructose) will show a red color within 1-2 minutes. A negative result (indicating an aldose, like glucose) will show little or no color change.
