In each turn of the Krebs cycle, 1 GTP (or ATP) is produced directly through substrate-level phosphorylation. Additionally, 3 NADH and 1 FADH₂ generated per cycle indirectly contribute to ATP production via oxidative phosphorylation. Specifically, 3 NADH yield about 7.5 ATP (3 × 2.5 ATP), and 1 FADH₂ yields about 1.5 ATP. Including the direct GTP (or ATP), the total ATP equivalents per cycle turn is approximately 10 ATP. Since two acetyl-CoA molecules enter the cycle per glucose molecule, the total ATP produced from the Krebs cycle per glucose molecule is around 20 ATP equivalents.
